Cannes Spotlight on: Cafe Society

As promised I will be delivering daily segments on the films I am most buzzed about that have premiered at Cannes Film Festival 2016! Something a little different from the usual on my blog 🙂

The definition of cafe society is a society of persons who are regular patrons of fashionable cafes. Directed by the uber talent Woody Allen and starring Blake Lively, Kristen Stewart and Steve Carell. The opening film for Cannes Film Festival is set in New York in the 1930’s following the life of Bobby Dorfman as he moves to Hollywood in search of a better career and lifestyle and winds up finding it both with the gorgeous Blake Lively and Kristen Stewart. Cafe Society takes you back to a time some bars and clubs in Manhattan truly were very exclusive. It’s had great reviews so far claiming it is a ‘charming and intelligent’ movie and ghas gained a 7.1/10 rating on IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4513674/ .) It set for release on the 15th July in the US, no UK date has been given yet. So keep an eye out for that if you’re interested!

Spring Skin Saviours: Products and Tips

As we go through the Winter to Spring transition many faces have suffered. Whatever your skin type; dry, combination, normal, oily; Your skin has most probably taken a hit from the shift in weather conditions right? Mine definitely has, for a couple of months now my skin has been at its worst ever. Breakouts, dry patches and dullness. So I took action and with some research and recommendations to hand I went out and panic bought as many skincare products I could, in hopes they would salvage my skin.

I can happily say my skin is now starting to get back on track and is almost back to its normal PH balance! So, I bring to you my Spring Skin Saviours! These products have worked wonders on my skin within a matter of days. Bear in mind everyone’s skin is different so not all these products featured may necessarily work for your skin but they are definitely worth a trial, especially if your skin is feeling as defeated as mine was!

My skin type:

  • Normal to dry
  • Sensitive

The product: Nivea Soft Moisturising Cream

How to apply: With clean hands, use your fingertips to massage into skin.

Review: Recommended by my sister, I ran out to get this cream as she said it was great for tight dry skin. After applying just twice a day for two days my skin dramatically changed from dry and taught to soft, supple and my complexion much brighter. And the great thing about this cream is that it can also be used for your body too, so you don’t have to spend money on multiple creams!

The product: Garnier Micellar Water (pictured above)

How to apply: Squirt on to a cotton pad and gently swipe over face in circular motions.

Review: The past year has been all about micellar water, everyones gone crazy about it and for a good reason to. Gone are the days of the long tired cleansing and toning routines to remove your make-up, with this magic water your make-up is removed and your skin cleansed all in one step. I love the Garnier branded water in particular as its great for my sensitive skin and super cheap. Naughtily I was using make-up wipes for a while to cleanse my face as i ran out of cleanser, so my skin become taught and spotty. But after ditching the wipes and using this water for a few days my skin has really cleared up.

The product: Boots Tea Tree and witch Hazel Charcoal Face Mask

How to apply: Splash face with warm water and apply the mask with clean hands to your face. Leave on for 5-10 minutes removing with warm water.

Review: I’ve been searching for a good face mask for a while that can combat my skins unexpected behaviour. Of late my skin has become combination, with spots, oiliness and dry patches. Which is very odd as my skin is usually a very calm normal to dry type. My friend recommended this face mask having used it herself and as my skin always reacts well to witch hazel I thought I’d give it a go! With active charcoal, I could actually feel the mask deeply cleansing through the pores in my skin. And it completely restored my oily skin back to its normal state, leaving my skin feeling fresh and soft.

November Favourites!

Hello lovelies!

So today’s post is going to be something new for me which I will continue to do a post on each month, my November favourites! I’ve seen so many bloggers do a monthly vlog or blog feature on this and I always really enjoy reading and watching them, so I thought I’d start doing my own. Now for those of you who haven’t read any monthly favourite posts basically its about your favourite products, films, books etc. that you’ve been loving that month.

Sooo my November favourites are…

1. John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum Original Formula- I bought this serum a couple of months ago but only really started using it regularly this month and I am so impressed! I bought this formula as my hair rarely has a real natural shine to it as its really dry. So I half heartedly picked this 25 ml bottle up as part of a 3 for 2 deal and I’m glad I did as its a great product. After washing your hair, push the pump once to dispense the serum into your hand and sparingly brush it through your wet hair with your hands and style as normal. Once I had dried and styled my hair the serum had left my hair soft and with a natural looking shine. RRP £3.99 currently £1.97 on http://www.superdrug.com

2.  Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub- This isn’t a new product I’ve just started using, I’ve actually been using it for a while. But I’m especially loving this wonder product this November month, as the weather turns cold and it takes a toll on your lips this scrub is perfect to exfoliate your lips and get rid of any dead skin, leaving a smooth base to apply your favourite lipstick. (Plus the bubble gum flavour tastes lush, yes, its edible too!) Definitly a must for the  Winter months! £5.50 from Lush

3. Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser- Say hello to baby smooth skin! Maybelline’s Instant Pore Eraser is does exactly as it says. It doesn’t have only one but two uses, a primer and pore eraser. I don’t have really visible pores so I bought this product to use as more of a primer, because sometimes my foundation tends to sink in to my skin, so I apply this before putting on my foundation and it almost creates a barrier between your skin and your makeup. It also blurs out imperfections to a certain extent. I will definitely be buying this product again. £7.99 from Boots

4. MAC Pigment in Blue/Black- This is my first MAC pigment I have bought and I’m planning to build up a big collection because I love it! It looks as though I haven’t even used it yet as you only need the tiniest bit on your brush as the colour is very dense. The colour is absolutely beautiful a shimmer of blues, purples and browns. You can mix it with different products to make the pigment more versatile, for example using it as an eyeliner once mixed with liquid makeup. The only thing is there is quite a lot of fall down  when applying, however you can easily catch this by holding a tissue under the area you are applying it to . £17.00 from MAC Cosmetics

So there’s my first favourites post! I hope you liked it and please let me know in the comments section what products you’re loving this month! Sharing is caring!

Fancy Dress Party OOTD!

Hey lovelies!

Sorry for the delay in what was meant to be yesterdays post, but I seem to have misplaced my camera (typical me) so I don’t have all the photos for my Halloween ‘creepy doll’ tutorial! 😦 However here is a quick post to keep you going until I hopefully find my camera and put a post up tomorrow! Just in time for a little last minute Halloween make up inspiration  🙂

So Saturday was my friends 21st birthday party and the best kind of parties are always fancy dress! I love fancy dress parties, a time for you to dress up as your favourite character/celebrity. Take a rest from being your fabulous self for the night and be whoever you want to be! And my alter ego for the night was BATWOMAN! A strong, independent, crime fighting woman. Girl Power! Haha This was one of the reasons I decided I wanted to be Batwoman, that and the fact that I have no money and this was a costume my mum already had! Its all about recycling clothes!

My lovely sister was good enough to treat me to getting my makeup done for the party, which I’m always more than appreciative of as she’s great armed with a few brushes and some simple makeup. I unfortunately didn’t get any close ups of the makeup as I wasn’t planning to do a post on it. Although I did get some mid shots, where you can see the eye makeup quite well as it’s so dark and strong. So here are the few photos I managed to snap…Let me know what you think of the outfit and makeup and I would love to see any of your own fancy dress pics and especially fancy dress makeup looks! You could also use this look for Halloween if you want to go for something not so scary and a bit more sexy!
