CLASS OF 2016!

As you’ve probably seen your facebook, twitter and instagram timelines filling up with an array hat throwing montages…It’s graduation season! And despite my fears that I wouldn’t make it, my day came on Monday 11th July. Now of course graduation prep for those of you who have experienced it, know that it is an incredibly stressful time. Full of intense schedule planning, MANY outfit proposals and a whole lot of nerves!

Now in true Georgia fashion, I got stuck in traffic on the M3, JUST made it with 3 minutes to spare until the ceremony proceedings started. However I still had to be brought to my seat MIA style to the utter shock and panic of the lady at the door. As you can imagine I was shot stares from everyone in the room, not one of my finest moments! But the point is I made it! The ceremony was amazing and I didn’t fall over (as i had nightmares about) but my friend did…I have the video, no I am not putting it up…So, if you still have your graduation to come and need some tips on getting organised for the big day I’ve compiled a list of tips. (Which I probably should of done prior to my graduation day.)

*Rent your hat and gown in advance, most universities allow for same day hire, but it just takes away one less stress of the day!

*YOUR OUTFIT. An important part of graduation day, you need to factor in all possibilities when choosing the perfect outfit. Firstly, those heels are uh-mazing, but are they too high? Am I likely to fall over in them? If you’re wearing a floaty style dress, is it going to blow up mid grad picture taking? Is your outfit too revealing? You want to look and feel amazing but remember this is a very formal event and looking smart is key! My graduation dress came from boohoo at a bargain £25, for the most beautiful off the shoulder peach dress. I paired this with a pair of baby pink heels and my prized Vivienne Westwood earrings.

*Have a schedule, plan out your day to ensure you arrive with enough time prior to the ceremony and think about your celebrations afterwards. Maybe you’re going to lunch or for a few drinks to celebrate. Or maybe you’re even staying there the night to go out and party that night. Either way its a good idea to have a rough schedule/plan that you and all your family/friends attending know about, just to help make the day run a bit smoother.

*Graduation is kind of like being at a festival, its all fun and games until you loose half of your friends, you’re flapping your hands around in hopes they’ll see you. And getting a group photo is a task that requires great skill and preparation. So, in order to make sure you get that all important group photo, take a few before the ceremony. (Leave the hat throwing one until after.) Then that way you’re guaranteed to have a few well composed photos of you all before it becomes carnage after the ceremony.

*Stay hydrated! Especially if your ceremony is is in the Summer, trust me those gowns and hats are a lot heavier than they look! You also might need it just before you go on stage, *queue dry throat.*

*ENJOY YOURSELF. This moment only comes around once for most, so make the most out of it, take as many pictures and do as many hat throws as you please!

Congrats Grad!

Spring Skin Saviours: Products and Tips

As we go through the Winter to Spring transition many faces have suffered. Whatever your skin type; dry, combination, normal, oily; Your skin has most probably taken a hit from the shift in weather conditions right? Mine definitely has, for a couple of months now my skin has been at its worst ever. Breakouts, dry patches and dullness. So I took action and with some research and recommendations to hand I went out and panic bought as many skincare products I could, in hopes they would salvage my skin.

I can happily say my skin is now starting to get back on track and is almost back to its normal PH balance! So, I bring to you my Spring Skin Saviours! These products have worked wonders on my skin within a matter of days. Bear in mind everyone’s skin is different so not all these products featured may necessarily work for your skin but they are definitely worth a trial, especially if your skin is feeling as defeated as mine was!

My skin type:

  • Normal to dry
  • Sensitive

The product: Nivea Soft Moisturising Cream

How to apply: With clean hands, use your fingertips to massage into skin.

Review: Recommended by my sister, I ran out to get this cream as she said it was great for tight dry skin. After applying just twice a day for two days my skin dramatically changed from dry and taught to soft, supple and my complexion much brighter. And the great thing about this cream is that it can also be used for your body too, so you don’t have to spend money on multiple creams!

The product: Garnier Micellar Water (pictured above)

How to apply: Squirt on to a cotton pad and gently swipe over face in circular motions.

Review: The past year has been all about micellar water, everyones gone crazy about it and for a good reason to. Gone are the days of the long tired cleansing and toning routines to remove your make-up, with this magic water your make-up is removed and your skin cleansed all in one step. I love the Garnier branded water in particular as its great for my sensitive skin and super cheap. Naughtily I was using make-up wipes for a while to cleanse my face as i ran out of cleanser, so my skin become taught and spotty. But after ditching the wipes and using this water for a few days my skin has really cleared up.

The product: Boots Tea Tree and witch Hazel Charcoal Face Mask

How to apply: Splash face with warm water and apply the mask with clean hands to your face. Leave on for 5-10 minutes removing with warm water.

Review: I’ve been searching for a good face mask for a while that can combat my skins unexpected behaviour. Of late my skin has become combination, with spots, oiliness and dry patches. Which is very odd as my skin is usually a very calm normal to dry type. My friend recommended this face mask having used it herself and as my skin always reacts well to witch hazel I thought I’d give it a go! With active charcoal, I could actually feel the mask deeply cleansing through the pores in my skin. And it completely restored my oily skin back to its normal state, leaving my skin feeling fresh and soft.
